Cooked pears in ginger wine recipe

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
Serves: 8 portions
Ingredients
-900g pears
-600ml ginger wine
-rind and juice of 2 lemons
-100g soft brown sugar
-1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
-Peel the pears but leave the stalks intact
-immediately brush lemon juice over the pears in order to prevent discoloration
-Using a saucepan, bring the ginger wine to a boil and the reduce the heat
-Add the pears, sugar, and cinnamon and simmer for approximately 25 minutes (until the pears become soft)
-Baste the pears often and only turn once during cooking
-Once ready, remove the pears from the pan onto a serving dish
-Boil the remaining wine in the pan until it attains a syrup consistency


-Spoon the syrup over the pears and serve immediately
